When receiving flowers one often has just the wrong vase. The glass vase Pi-no Pi-no offers a solution to this problem with its modifiability.
The height and colour of this practical and beautiful vase can be adjusted through its stackable glass rings, so that one vase can work in different situations.
When not in use for flowers, the vase can be turned into a container due to its wooden lid.
Maija Puoskari was born in Tornio, northern Finland, in 1978.
Puoskari studied in Applied Art and Design at the Aalto University of Helsinki, where she graduated in 2009. She got her BA at Kuopio Academy of Design, Savonia University of Applied Sciences in 2003. Before her design studies Puoskari had already graduated as a florist.
Because of her background it’s no surprise that she often draws inspiration from nature. Puoskari’s work is characterized by a strong sense of pure form mixed with functionality and precise finishing. She works widely with various design and exhibition projects. Puoskari´s tile collection for Tulikivi, the worlds largest manufacturer of heat-retaining fireplaces, was launched in 2010.
Puoskari has been awarded with several grands and prizes, and her work has been shown in many national and international collection exhibitions and fairs.
Puoskari works and lives in Helsinki. She enjoys working hard, intensively and intuitively. At free time outdoor living is her choice; fishing, gathering mushrooms and grilling sausages over a campfire.
Sandellsandberg was commissioned to do the interior design of the public areas such as the restaurants, the shop and the chambers outside the restrooms. The office has also designed various pieces of furniture such as dining tables, information desk, benches and mirrors. Natural materials that ages beautifully and with dignity have been used all throughout the project.
Sandellsandberg‘s approach can be described as direct, pragmatic, playful and uncomplicated. Close cooperation with Grow has taught them, in a tangible way, the benefits of considering a task from different perspectives – in particular, to remain open and accepting of knowledge outside our own disciplines in order to achieve the best results.
Zadig is the title of a book about a journey, written by Voltaire in the 18th century, but referring to the 12th century.
All the images described in the book are born in Voltaire’s imagination. He had never visited these places but learnt of them by reading stories and myths of the era.
The paintings of the exhibition take the viewer through a journey to mythical and imaginary places. The artists are portraying Zadig’s story using their imagination, their personal painting techniques and their experiences from a world Voltaire had never imagined.
The opening of the exhibition takes place at Gallery Sarri12 today at 20.00. Curated by Denia Panagaki.
